Cleanse

- Keep mature acne prone skin spotlessly cleansed with a gentle sulphate free face wash or light cleansing lotion. Over aggressive cleansing will aggravate sebaceous glands and stimulate oil production whilst cleansers that are too heavy can clog pores. Experiment with different cleansers or combinations of cleansers (a different one for evening & morning) to find what works for you.

Treat

- Apply an anti bacterial treatment or gel to problem areas after cleansing, Callum Best loves Harley Street Cosmetic's Tea Tree Gel.

- spritz your face throughout the day with an alcohol free flower water or toner to help prevent infection. I love suki's willow toner which comes in a handy spritz bottle and contains natural anti bacterial ingredients.

- apply a blemish treatment to individual spots & outbreaks

- avoid touching your skin

Moisturise

- Use an oil free moisturiser or light facial lotion or serum on acne prone areas to keep skin hydrated without clogging pores. You may like to use a separate, richer moisturiser on non affected areas with drier skin.

Weekly treatments

- deep cleanse skin once a week with a clay based facial mask. You may like to steam the skin prior to applying a mask - add a little organic tea tree oil or a handful of fresh cleansing herbs (thyme or rosemary) for an extra super deep clean (don't steam your skin if you are prone to broken capillaries though).

- gently exfoliate skin with an organic cotton cloth after cleansing.
