ila have drawn on the ancient wisdom of the East, the ancient Indian scriptures called the Vedas, the ancient oceans and the energies of the Earth formed by mountains, trees, flowers and bees. They have combined them with today’s extraordinary technology to bring skin products that strengthen a woman’s vital energy. They have taken ingredients offered up to feminine deities on shrines all over the world and created scrubs, salts and oils which have powerful effects specifically for women.

ila's products are manufactured in an environment of beauty and peace, in accordance with the Ayurvedic traditions of chanting mantras and prayers while the products are being made.
Three core ingredients are particularly vital to them and you can read the story of where they source these: Rose Damascene, Argan oil, Himalayan salt. ila make their products with these and other ingredients in their barn in the Cotswolds.
Rose Damascene from India
In the foothills of the Himalayas you will see slopes covered with Indian Rose Damascene with an exquisite smell. Here ila found Pawan and his family who have been growing and distilling roses for many generations while also supporting local rose farmers.
Pawan's relationship to the land and the plants has become almost familial, with a closeness of indentification that is spiritual. Pawan knows the soil, he knows the plants, and the way he tests their qualities is as natural as breathing. He smells the roses, knows the precise moment to pick them and use their petals for immediate distillation. There is no packing and transport of petals to another location, with inevitable loss of purity and potency.
Instead these rose petals are distilled nearby according to a centuries-old method. Water, drawn from the earth simply by solar energy, is mixed with the petals in copper vats heated by the natural fire-fuel of cow dung. After distillation the rose petals are fed back to the cows.
Such integrity for the cycle of nature and ancient traditions results in a distillate of essential rose otto of the richest scent and purest vibration. While this oil does not receive organic accreditation, its depth and purity go beyond anything we have encountered anywhere else in the world.
Himalayan Salt Crystals
At the eastern end of Pakistan, at the point where it enters Kashmir, ila met people mining rock made of salt crystals. The rock is hard, pink and of an extra-ordinary age, having been formed hundreds of years before human beings first walked on the earth.
The landscape itself is rough and rugged, but beneath the surface you enter deep mines that lead into the dark heart of the mountain. Here, perhaps a mile inside the mountain, you can see the pink veins of the Himalayan salt crystals in the walls of the cave. The pinker the rock the richer the mineral content.
The highest quality rock comes from this area, there is nothing else like it in the world. The local people have known about its healing qualities and it has always been an integral part of their life.
Argan Oil
In the lower Atlas mountains of Morocco you will find Argan trees. But you will find them nowhere else in the world.
The Moroccans have always prized the Argan. For centuries the Berber people have harvested the nuts and turned the harvest into valuable oil. Some of the oil they use for cooking, but the greatest craft effort goes into extracting the purest, most concentrated essence of the oil for massaging into the body. This fragrant oil is famed in Morocco for its health-giving properties, being rich in omega fatty acids and anti-oxidants.
Other Ingredients
ila source their ingredients from many different parts of the world, including the most remote regions. The ingredients are organic where possible but always of a purity that is the greatest that they can acheive. Sometimes this means that their ingredients are beyond organic.
ALMOND OIL
This essential oil from almonds is cold-pressed and organic. ila use it, as it is used in Ayurveda, for its quality of calming the mind and bringing inner peace.
ROSEHIP SEED OIL
This organic oil is cold-pressed from the seeds of native rose plants in Chile. Rich in Vitamin A and essential fatty acids, scientific studies show that it has outstanding anti-ageing qualities.
POPPY ESSENCE
Poppy flowers, like other flowers, have an angelic form or deva. This brings a subtle yet powerful healing energy. The angelic form of the poppy provides healing for the heart.
SANDALWOOD SPICATUM
This sacred oil is known in India as the bringer of purity and serenity. It is grounding and thought to balance the pituitary gland. For the skin it is fundamentally healing and nourishing.
JASMINE
ila's version of jasmine, hydro-distilled, is very unusual. It is deeply nourishing to both skin and emotions. It is believed to stimulate the flow of love to the heart as well as spiritual light.

PATCHOULI
Oil from the strongly scented leaves of this shrub balances the air/earth element. It nourishes the skin while grounding and stabilising emotions.
ROSE GERANIUM
This oil promotes spiritual happiness. It stimulates the lymphatic system, and also balances the emotions and hormones.
LEMONGRASS
An organic ingredient harvested in Nepal, this cleanses the aura and recharges the energy field.
ROYAL JELLY
