Broken capillaries occur when the capillary cell walls become weakened and sever or break. On facial skin it is common around the nose and cheeks and appears as fine wavy red lines. Your skin becomes more prone to broken capillaries as it ages.

- prevent broken capillaries by avoiding extremes of temperature including steaming the skin and saunas

- avoid alcohol as this can weaken the capillaries

- a deficiency of vitamin C and E can allow the capillaries to deteriorate

- make sure your diet includes lots of bio-flavanoids (Vitamin P) found in brightly coloured fruit and veg including citrus peel, peppers, blackcurrants, rosehips and cherries. Bio-flavanoids work synergistically with Vitamin C to protect and preserve capillaries.

- keep your skin protected with a good moisturiser and nourished with organic facial oils.
