Anxiety

Anxiety is a common emotion which can stress our bodies causing us to produce more adrenal hormones such as adrenaline.

 

 

- Avoid stimulating foods such as sugar, caffiene and alcohol. Try to keep blood sugar levels relatively stable (by eating low GL (glyceamic load) foods reguarly) and opt for lots of fruit and veg.

 

- Make some you time to sit with your feelings - often we feel anxious because we are avoiding something (maybe dealing with a difficult situation or person) or need to take some actions to change a situation we are in (maybe our job or relationship isn't working). Find out what your anxiety is telling you - acting on these messages can help alleviate our anxieties.   

 

- If anxiety is disturbing sleep take a relaxing bath before bed and avoid TV in the evening.

 

- Magnesium (found in nuts and seeds) is very effective natural tranquiliser as are B vitamins and Zinc.

 

- Fennel tea can relieve anxiety related tension and upset in the abdominal area

 

- Get plenty of restorative exercise - walks in the country, yoga and swimming are ideal
